Fried oyster and shiitake mushrooms

This dish is absolutely delicious and almost has the same texture and chewiness as fried calamari. I got this idea from one of my vegan friends, Mary. One way I try to eat healthily is to subscribe to feeds on social media that promotes healthy eating. This recipe is so quick and easy to make! I eat it plain or with some lemon juice.


  • oyster and/or shiitake mushrooms
  • 4-5 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • olive oil – enough to coat a pan but not submerge the mushrooms
  • spices – some of my fav are garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper
  • salt/pepper to taste
  1. Put oil in a pan to warm it up
  2. Put cornstarch and spices in a plate, mix it up
  3. Cut up mushrooms and lightly coat them w/ the cornstarch mixture
  4. Place in pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side
  5. Take out and put on a plate w/ a paper towel to drain some of the oi
